Summer signings are few and far between on this list because naturally, they didn't play enough games. Atlanta United left back Pedro Amador is one of the few exceptions. The 24-year-old Portuguese defender arrived from Moreirense on a free transfer and was instrumental in leading Atlanta past Inter Miami in what may be the greatest playoff upset in league history.
Amador made 14 total appearances MLS appearances, nine in the regular season and five in the postseason. He assisted a whopping eight goals in that time period. Amador stood all alone atop the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs assists leaderboard with four helpers. In a season that could have ended weeks earlier and been deemed a complete failure if not for a goal differential tiebreaker, Amador burst onto the scene to save Atlanta.
Amador clearly has something against Miami, as he whipped in a perfect left-footed cross to Saba Lobjanidze for his first assist during a 2-2 draw with the Supporters' Shield winners. In the very next match, he added another to Edwin Mosquera, though Mosquera admittedly did most of the work on that one. A ridiculous one-two combination with Lobjanidze on Decision Day completed his regular season.
In the playoffs, Amador took matters into his own hands. The unbelievable left foot of his served up a luxurious ball into the area that was headed home by Brooks Lennon in the play-in game. A three-game series with Miami ensued. Amador registered an assist in all three of the best-of-three series matches. The connection with the Georgian forward was clearly firing on all cylinders.
The cultured left foot returned in game two, with a curling ball directly onto the head of Derrick Williams. To the surprise of almost everyone, Atlanta stunned Miami in game three. The fact that Amador won the game with a left-footed cross to Bartosz Slisz, however, was not surprising to those who had been watching his playoff run. Amador didn't even flinch as the net bulged, teammates getting on the end of his crosses had become quite normal. Pedro Amador's magical contributions down the left flank in such little time puts him on the list at No. 75.
