Brad Stuver is the lone reason why Austin FC's scoring defense stayed intact. Austin's 39 goals scored tally was the lowest in the Western Conference and its backline was nothing to write home about. Stuver was the man who kept the team in games. He made 143 saves in 2024, the most out of any goalkeeper over the course of the season and the most out of any goalkeeper in one season in almost two decades.

Stuver finished the season with eight clean sheets. He earned one in the second game of the season, a 0-0 draw against Seattle in which he robbed Josh Atencio. At the end of April, he sprung a streak of three straight shutouts. In the latter of the three, he made an athletic leap to tip Picault's header over the top. Stuver was integral to one of Austin's biggest wins of the season against Monterrey, making six saves in the contest.

A seven-save shutout win over Nashville was among his top performances of the year, including a denial of an early Hany Mukhar penalty kick. He posted his best showing of the year with just three games left in Austin's season. The 1-0 victory over Portland was headlined by a whopping 10 saves from the goalkeper. Stuver made a fantastic save on Jonathan Rodriguez and finished his historic season on a high note.

The 143 save statistic is great for a goalkeeper, though conceding that many shots on target is a mark against the team as a whole. Stuver truly did all he could between the pipes for Austin in 2024, but it was not quite enough to make a return to the postseason. The club will look to amend its lineup and prepare for an improved 2025 season with Stuver holding it down in goal. Stuver comes in at No. 69.
