Martin Ojeda had a slow start to the year, but began to ramp things up in the summer months. He finished the season with 4 goals and 12 assists in a talented Orlando City attack. Ojeda played a different role, being utilizied much more in the attacking midfield than he was on the wing. His left foot is always dangerous and forces defenders to stay tight.
Ojeda scored his first goal of the year in penalty fashion against Tigres in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. He scored the lone goal against LAFC with a clean finish. In the beginning of July, he scored in two consecutive matches. A powerful header against Toronto FC helped win the match and he opened the scoring in a 5-0 thrashing of DC United. In Leagues Cup, Ojeda blasted home a capper against Montreal. With likely his most important tally of the season, he secured an important playoff win over Charlotte with a sizzling left footed strike.
Orlando made a respectable run to the Eastern Conference Final, but could not get the job done on its own home turf against the New York Red Bulls. The loss was obviously disappointing considering the club missed out on a trip to MLS Cup. That match was also the last Facundo Torres sighting in purple, as he left for Palmeiras. In a way, the attack shifts to an Ojeda focus. He was the second creator behind Torres and will now have an even more crucial task in 2025 without the club's all-time leading scorer. Ojeda comes in at No. 67.
