Aaron Herrera completed his seventh MLS season in 2024 and his first with DC United. He spent the first five with Real Salt Lake, posting his best campaign in 2021. Herrera played one season in Montreal before moving onto DC, where he finished his second-best season statistically. The club made a slight step forward on the campaign, missing out on the playoffs by a 15-goal discrepancy compared to Atlanta United's goal differential. Christian Benteke won the Golden Boot with 23 goals and many of Herrera's eight assists were finished off by a dream target man for any fullback.

Herrera won the ball and whipped a perfect cross to Benteke in the very first match the duo played together. One week later, he sprinted down the flank and picked out Kristian Fletcher for a late equalizer in Portland. He scored his lone goal of the season in a late Minnesota victory, this time from Benteke's headed setup. A game of the year contender saw DC down 3-2 to Nashville at 90'+4. Gabriel Pirani tied the game then Herrera picked Pirani out for the winner with just ticks remaining on the clock.

The Guatemalan international is set to hold down the right back position for DC United once again in 2025. DC has made a few additions thus far, but nothing too notable. Lukas MacNaughton was acquired from Nashville to help anchor the backline, while Joao Peglow will join the attack. The team showed serious flashes throughout 2024, but just could not put it all together and fell just short of the playoffs. Herrera completed almost 70% of his dribbles and connected on over a cross per game. He sent just under three accurate long balls and won possession 0.49 times in the final third per 90. Herrera comes in at No. 51.

69.8% DRIBBLE SUCCESS (89%)

2.98 ACCURATE LONG BALLS PER 90 (89%)
