Erik Thommy has been the exact creator that Sporting Kansas City has needed for years. The team itself has struggled for the success that it had during the earlier years of its existence. They have missed the playoffs more than they've made it across the last three seasons and are looking to change that. Thommy was one of the only consistent players for SKC in 2024 and remains a guy the club can count on. Alan Pulido was transferred out this offseason and the front office has not busy, so the outlook is foggy as of now. Thommy, though, guarantees quality performances.

With seven goals from his midfield role, Thommy truly did all he could to help the team in 2024. He scored in the very first match of the season with a goal very symbolic of his season: he did it all by himself. In a tight battle against Inter Miami, he sent the 72,000+ on hand into a frenzy with a sixth minute strike. It became a brace when he made perfect connection with a volley, off the post and in. He scored another brace against Colorado later on in the campaign. Thommy also helped bring his team to the final of the Open Cup, with a chance to salvage the season in some capacity. He sent the match to extra time, but it was not quite enough.

Thommy was just fabulous over the course of the season, scoring 0.27 goals per 90, an impressive clip at his position. He took on over three shots per match and won possession at least once in the final third on average. He created over 1.5 chances and completed just under that number in the dribbles category. He was the primary target of violence, getting fouled 2.36 times per 90. He also had over three touches a game in the opposition's box. He is poised to do the same in 2025, though it would be nice if he could get a little more help. Thommy comes in at No. 40.
