Week 7 was not one of the more interesting ones, especially on Saturday. Sunday's three games were far more exciting, but the Saturday slate was as dead as it gets in MLS, as a whopping 10 of the 24 teams failed to hit the back of the net. Some of the top teams are beginning to pull away from the mediocre sides and the league is starting to take some shape. There were far less shock results than past weeks and the importance of home-field advantage cannot be understated. One single away team won a game out of the 15 matches this week. Home teams went 10-1-4. Without a doubt, knowing how Major League Soccer works, next week will be a fun one to offset this week's lack of chaos. The Week 7 Power Rankings:

1. INTER MIAMI CF (-) | 1-1 D TFC

Inter Miami's lack of a home victory against Toronto may be the most surprising result of the weekend. Lionel Messi had one of his goals called off, and probably should have had the one that did count wiped out as well. In the end, Miami held for a 1-1 draw and could have easily scored three or four times, though TFC was knocking on the door as well. This match was a reminder that IMCF is not invincible, but the draw still isn't enough to knock the undefeated team down a spot. The CCC loss to LAFC was another reminder, and leg two of that tie will take main stage midweek.

2. COLUMBUS CREW (-) | 2-1 W MTL

Similarly to Miami, Columbus played a mediocre game at home against a poor Canadian side. In this case, the Crew were still able to grab the win, but it was far from comfortable. Jacen Russell-Rowe was the star of the show, while the rest of the squad was solid, just not up to the normal Columbus standard. Steven Moreira and Malte Amundsen returned to the lineup at center back, but Darlington Nagbe's absence in the center of midfield was noticeable. In the early season, grabbing results by any means necessary is the game, and Columbus was able to do that.

3. FC CINCINNATI (-) | 1-0 W NE

FC Cincinnati was missing a laundry list of starters, including Evander, a couple starting center backs and the rock of the midfield. In the end Sergio Santos netted the game-winner in the second half, allowing Cincy to hold onto a much-needed three points. Matt Miazga's return will be huge for this team. FCC's missing starters are an issue, but the upcoming schedule is one of the easiest possible, perhaps giving them more time to recover. Kevin Denkey still needs to prove his price tag and Luca Orellano hasn't shown even a fraction of what he did last season.

4. MINNESOTA UNITED (-) | 2-1 W NYC

Tani Oluwaseyi is absolutely on fire. The next step for Minnesota is getting both Oluwaseyi and Kelvin Yeboah firing on all cylinders in the same match, it's seemed like one or the other thus far. Yeboah had his chances, but he missed three big ones. Joaquin Pereyra was absolutely fantastic as a creator, as he tore NYCFC's defense apart with both assists. Joseph Rosales is getting back to full strength and is another massive addition to this squad. The Loons went on the road to Yankee Stadium to claim the victory and have cemented themselves as one of the West's elite.

5. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS (+1) | 2-0 W COL

The Vancouver Whitecaps returned to winning ways after a slow stretch of matches. They sit all alone atop the Western Conference with 16 points after beating Colorado 2-0. The wingers have been so dangerous for this team, whether it be Emmanuel Sabbi, Ali Ahmed or Jayden Nelson. Sebastian Berhalter has really taken on the Ryan Gauld creation role, along with Pedro Vite. His reintroduction into the team will be quite interesting to see. The Whitecaps are legit, and will have a shot to prove it to CONCACAF on Wednesday.

6. CHARLOTTE FC (-1) | 2-1 W NSH

Charlotte probably didn't deserve much of anything in match against Nashville, but the tides turned drastically in the final five minutes. After chasing the game all day, Charlotte equalized through a Wilfried Zaha penalty and won it in the final minutes. Pep Biel's solo effort found Idan Toklomati, who stole three points at the death. The Crown remain perfect at home, with a 4-0-0 record. Now, they need to figure it out on the road. A visit to Montreal is the perfect opportunity for a first away win of 2025.

7. SAN DIEGO FC (+3) | 3-0 W SEA

San Diego just keeps proving to be the real deal. This time out, Seattle stole the whole domination of possession thing, the home side passed the test with flying colors. On just four shots on goal, San Diego racked up three goals in a clean sheet victory. Jeppe Tverskov's incredible, gritty play in the midfield rewarded him with the winning goal in the second minute. Anders Dreyer stayed active, while Hirving Lozano returned to the lineup with his first goal in MLS. Two tough road matches are up next for the thriving expansion side.

8. ORLANDO CITY SC (-1) | 0-0 D PHI

After losing 4-2 to the Philadelphia Union just over a month ago, a scoreless draw was not exactly on the cards pregame. Orlando's prolific attack was finally shut down, leading to its first match without a goal scored. On the bright side, it was also the first clean sheet for the struggling defense. Martin Ojeda tried to get things going, but there just wasn't a whole lot going forward for the Lions, especially with their two CM's missing the game entirely. Pedro Gallese helped ice the 0-0 draw that Orlando will undoubetdly take, considering the absences.

9. PHILADELPHIA UNION (-1) | 0-0 D ORL

The Union were also held without a goal for the first time this season, while collecting their third clean sheet of the campaign. Even with Kai Wagner out, the back four held strong defensively, though there certainly was an attacking threat missing. The strikers did not get much service and Quinn Sullivan played probably his worst game of the season thus far. Bruno Damiani left the game with two big chances missed, ones that he will want back. Philadelphia will take the point and move onto a Citi Field matchup against NYCFC.

10. AUSTIN FC (-1) | 0-0 D POR

The Austin FC story is the same every single week. This team is incredibly consistent on both sides of the ball. Defensively, it's nearly impossible to break Austin down. Four clean sheets already on the year speak for themselves. In the attack, the same lack of goals struggle can be found. Despite sitting fourth in the West, Austin has scored just five goals. The defensive effort is incredibly impressive, but at some point, Brandon Vazquez, Myrto Uzuni and Osman Bukari are going to have to start scoring some goals if this team has serious aspirations to make a deep run later down the line.

11. NEW YORK RED BULLS (+1) | 2-1 W CHI

The Red Bulls were not the better team for much of the win over Chicago, but sometimes this sport just rewards the team that takes its chances. RBNY put six of its seven total shots on target and did just enough to get over the line with two goals to close the first half. Eric Choupo-Moting bagged another penalty, while Serge Ngoma grabbed his fourth career MLS goal. Carlos Coronel made five saves in the win, while Omar Valencia put in a great shift at left back. The main concern for the Red Bulls is having a consistent dynamic attacking threat, and Ngoma could certainly help that problem if he stays healthy, as well as Mohammed Sofo.

12. ATLANTA UNITED (+1) | 1-1 D DAL

Atlanta United lost half of its starting backline with the absences of Derrick Williams and Pedro Amador prior to the match against FC Dallas, so a 1-1 draw will do. The defense held up enough to earn a point. Tristan Muyumba bossed the midfield for Atlanta, a spot where there are options but there has not been a ton of consistency. Miguel Almiron converted his penalty for the lone goal. Emmanuel Latte Lath completed all four of his dribble attempts but was held off the scoresheet. Atlanta hosts New England for a matinee on Saturday.

13. COLORADO RAPIDS (-2) | 2-0 L VAN

The Colorado Rapids have been a difficult team to figure out so far. However, going on the road against the Western Conference leaders was always going to be a tall task, so the 2-0 loss is not exactly surprising. Vancouver was able to keep Djordje Mihailovic and company quiet enough to thwart any scoring threats. The Rapids didn't have many bright spots in the loss, but the midfield was once again dominated, which has been a growing theme. Cole Bassett's run of bad form continued, while Josh Atencio was not any better next to him. San Diego comes to town for a big game next week.

14. SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES (+8) | 6-1 W DC

The San Jose Earthquakes now lead Major League Soccer in scoring, which would have been an unfathomable statement anytime last year. The six-goal rout included a Josef Martinez hat trick, who has continually proved that he's still got it. Chicho Arango got in on the scoring early on as well. Cristian Espinoza picked up another assist, as per usual, and even was awarded a goal of his own from the penalty spot. Martinez is the definition of a pure finisher, he scored three goals and stole the show on just 22 touches, by far the least out of any starter. The 6-1 thrashing may suggest pure domination, but Daniel was forced into nine saves and 2.56 goals prevented. The 'Quakes snapped their four-game winless streak and will visit LAFC on Saturday.

15. FC DALLAS (+4) | 1-1 D ATL

FC Dallas is now unbeaten in its last three games after the 1-1 draw at Atlanta. Petar Musa scored his third goal of the season, while Luciano Acosta created four chances. Osaze Urhoghide played well outside of committing the penalty that earned Atlanta the draw. Nolan Norris has stepped into the left back role to replace the injured Marco Farfan, and has done an incredible job in doing so. Dallas still needs more stability from its midfield and is lacking attacking assistance from the wings.

16. PORTLAND TIMBERS (+4) | 0-0 D ATX

The Portland Timbers are one of many teams unable to break down Austin FC, but it still resulted in a road point. The Timbers recorded five more shots on goal than their opponents and certainly were not scared. David da Costa is coming into his role and beginning to settle in at the No. 10. Felipe Mora and the two soaring wingers were left silent in the game. David Ayala and Joao Ortiz's midfield excellence anchored Portland to the 0-0 result. Now four games without a loss, Portland will visit Sporting Kansas City next after climbing to No. 5 in the Western Conference.

17. SEATTLE SOUNDERS (-3) | 3-0 L SD

The Seattle Sounders have a problem on their hands. That is now five straight games without a win across all competitions. Jesus Ferreira has completely fallen off production-wise across the last two seasons, and his Seattle career has not exactly started successfully. Albert Rusnak is one of the only things this team has going for it right now, but he came off at halftime. The highly-esteemed defense hasn't been anywhere near expectations either. Jordan Morris has to come back soon and Pedro de la Vega needs to stay healthy and figure out how he can contribute to this side. Seattle always seems to figure it out, but it's looking grim at the moment.

18. LAFC (-3) | 1-0 L HOU

LAFC is in a similar situation as Seattle in its underperformance. LAFC has lost four out of its last five MLS matches, including a 5-2 meltdown again those same Sounders back in March. It seems that Houston has gotten the better of this team in regular season play during recent years. At least in LAFC's case, the CCC is still in the picture, so rotated squads can be partially blamed for the results. The 1-0 win over Inter Miami in that competition sets up a huge second leg on Wednesday. Regardless, Denis Bouanga has not at all been himself and Olivier Giroud is still without an MLS goal, those two things need to change.

19. NYCFC (-3) | 2-1 L MIN

There was some hope for NYCFC, but it has certainly dissipated across the last three games. Blowing a 3-1 lead against Atlanta last week in 20 minute's time was crushing, but a home loss to Minnesota has compounded the problem. It was so bad to start that Pascal Jansen opted to make a double sub in the 40th minute with no injury involvements. The message seemed to work, considering NYCFC did not concede after that point, but it was not enough. Alonso Martinez is always seeking the top corners on his penalties, and he paid the price this time with a laced strike coming back off the crossbar. Keaton Parks did it all for his team, creating four chances and scoring the lone goal from midfield.

20. CHICAGO FIRE (-3) | 2-1 L RBNY

The hot start for Chicago Fire was mostly schedule-based, and the upcoming matches will likely reinforce that. By no means is this a bad team, it just isn't established enough to be one of the contenders in the East. Three straight wins have been followed up with a bad draw and a loss to the Red Bulls. In the loss, Chicago played well and had the lead, but was just unable to hold on. Brian Gutierrez has been a huge loss, as he has played just three times. The Hugo Cuypers goal scoring has gone missing in the last two contests. Philip Zinckernagel has stepped up as of late, though and Jonathan Bamba finally notched his first Fire goal. They will now face some of the Eastern Conference's most prolific teams across the next month.

21. NASHVILLE SC (-) | 2-1 L CLT

If current trends stand, Nashville SC is in for a very topsy-turvy year. After an impressive stretch of three straight wins, Nashville took 1-0 leads against a pair of great teams and lost both games 2-1 late on. The 3-3-1 record is perfectly balanced for a team that has showed some positive flashes, but needs to be better in crucial moments. The most important note is that Walker Zimmerman is okay after a horrific blow to the head. He has been released from the hospital after an ugly scene late in the match. The upcoming schedule will give NSC a chance to climb back up the standings, starting with a home match against Real Salt Lake.

22. REAL SALT LAKE (+3) | 2-0 W LA

Real Salt Lake has had an interesting opening seven games of 2025. Three wins is not horrible, espeically considering how this team looks on paper. RSL was the newest team to take advantage of the crippled and crumbling LA Galaxy, cruising to a 2-0 win on the back of Diego Luna. Luna finally hit the level he is expected to play at, but the rest of his attack doesn't have many expectations at all, and that is one of the big problems. The midfield duo of Braian Ojeda and Emeka Eneli was much improved in the win, which is a huge development. RSL hasn't been dreadful but it's hard to imagine a very high ceiling for this roster.

23. ST. LOUIS CITY SC (-5) | 2-0 L SKC

The offensive woes of St. Louis City are becoming dire. It has been 345 minutes since STL has mustered a goal and it has been shut out on three straight occasions. Marcel Hartel is doing what he can, but there's just no finishing touch. Joao Klauss, Simon Becher and Cedric Teuchert have to score goals, and the scoring needs to start very soon. Even with the two goals conceded to rival Sporting Kansas City, who had zero wins coming in, St. Louis has given up just four goals on the year. The attack has completely let the defensive unit down, who have been the second-best scoring defense in 2025. St. Louis is in a position comparable to Austin, but it has not been able to get positive results as of late.

24. HOUSTON DYNAMO (+2) | 1-0 W LAFC

The Houston Dynamo have won a game, and who else but LAFC would it come against. The Dynamo have not lost in the last five regular season games between the teams, with four of those being wins, though they did lose the most important one in the 2023 playoffs. Jack McGlynn continues to be the pride and joy of the 2025 Houston Dynamo. They picked him up on such a bargain, and he is stepping into a star role. In the 1-0 win, he played out a bit wider and cut in on his left foot to win the game. The defense and midfield put in a good effort, but the attack outside of McGlynn has nothing going for it. Ezequiel Ponce, Amine Bassi and Sebastian Kowalczyk have not been good enough as the Dynamo eagerly await the arrival of Ondrej Lingr.

25. SPORTING KANSAS CITY (+5) | 2-0 W STL

Sporting Kansas City has climbed out of the cellar in its first week without Peter Vermes in 16 years. The 2-0 victory over St. Louis tied the new rivalry up at 3-3-2 all-time. Dejan Joveljic scored both goals and showed off the finishing touch he had in Los Angeles. Jansen Miller did well in his third MLS start, while Logan Ndenbe is returning to form. New DP Manu Garcia masterfully set up the winner, which is a good sign as well. It remains to be seen if this is a sign of things to come for Kerry Zavagnin's side, but at least SKC has put one in the win column.

26. TORONTO FC (+2) | 1-1 D MIA

For the first time in a long time, the Italians brought life to Toronto FC. The initial introduction of Federico Bernardeschi and Lorenzo Insigne to the city made waves across MLS, but that excitement has not been even partially fulfilled. On Sunday Night Soccer, the pair showed a side of TFC that has not been seen in some time, and it earned them a valuable point at Inter Miami, something that even the best teams are unable to muster. Bernardeschi scored an absolutely unreal goal of controlled brilliance inside the box, assisted by Insigne. Toronto had plenty of other chances to score as well, but the 1-1 result was ultimately a fair one, as Nicksoen Gomis made an unreal block to keep the game level. Ola Brynhildsen hasn't provided much of anything quite yet. TFC is chasing a first win of the season against Minnesota next Saturday.

27. NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION (-4) | 1-0 L FCC

Back to losing ways for the New England Revolution. In all of the Revs' negative results so far, they have started well and gradually seem to give the game away as time wanes. Carles Gil created six chances, yet has no one to really create them to. Ignatius Ganago continues his trend of trying things, but that in itself is not enough at this point. Luca Langoni hasn't been good either. Brayan Ceballos was very solid in his return from injury, the defense is not the problem here. Caleb Porter is much of the problem, especially his theme of moral celebrations in postgame press conferences. The return of Tomas Chancalay next week and Leo Campana the week after that is semi-exciting for Revs fans.

28. LA GALAXY (-4) | 2-0 L RSL

LA Galaxy's fall from grace is truly impressive. The return of Joseph Paintsil hasn't turned any luck either. The youngsters are getting a whole lot of experience right now for the reigning champions, who are winless with five losses in the opening seven games. Somehow, the Galaxy held Tigres scoreless in CCC leg one, so their entire attention is turned towards leg two down in Mexico. Focusing on that competition is the smart thing to do at this point, but if their elimination comes midweek, a complete turnaround in league play becomes the primary goal. They rested players in a 2-0 loss to Real Salt Lake, but it was still a horrible performance with zero shots on goal.

29. CF MONTREAL (-2) | 2-1 L CLB

CF Montreal played a game of tight margins in Columbus, having three potential goals in tight offside decisions. In the end, only one of those counted, and Montreal fell once again. The loss was the fifth on the year and plummeted the Canadian side to dead last in the Eastern Conference. Prince Owusu finally finished one of his chances, but it was not enough to get a result. Caden Clark and Victor Loturi both found the back of the net, albeit illegally in the end. Wins will be hard to come by anytime soon for a team that is already seeing any playoff chances slip away in the first fifth of the season.

30. DC UNITED (-1) | 6-1 L SJ

DC United is not good at soccer. Across the last three games combined, DCU has been outscored 12-3. Christian Benteke deserves his weekly shoutout for scoring a goal almost every game in the worst of situations. He actually had six shots on target in the bulldozing 6-1 loss, but Daniel robbed him of a few massive opportunities. Outside of Benteke, there isn't a positive word to be said about anyone besides Joao Peglow. Peglow has been a lively pickup on the wing, but everything else is a pure mess. Kye Rowles and Lucas Bartlett have been an atrocious center back pairing. DC United started the season four games unbeaten with a light schedule, but the growing three-game winless streak is only going to get worse if the on-field product remains in its current state, and it's a good bet that it will.
