We are four weeks in, and Major League Soccer is Major League Soccering. Four of last week's top six teams lost this week, shaking things up a bit in the early battle for positioning. The Week Four Power Rankings:

1. INTER MIAMI CF (-) | 2-1 W ATL

ree

Inter Miami was in some trouble to start the night in Atlanta, but Lionel Messi's magic turned things around. Miami is looking like the best and most consistent team in MLS once again this season. When all the other top teams falter, Miami always seems to keep chugging along and grab positive results.

2. COLUMBUS CREW (+1) | 1-1 D SD

ree

Columbus Crew is undefeated in MLS in 2025, with its newest result being a draw in San Diego. Max Arfsten is in form and scored the lone goal. Malte Amundsen's red card brought Columbus down and forced it to change up system, so the Crew settled for a road draw. Not a horrible result all things considered.

3. CHARLOTTE FC (+5) | 2-0 W FCC

ree

Charlotte FC has played a monstrous schedule to start this season, and it has done quite well during the opening stretch. Adilson Malanda has been immense at center back, while Kristijan Kahlina is still saving shots for fun. Charlotte shutout FC Cincinnati and claimed an important win that will lead the side into a much easier schedule.

4. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS (+7) | 1-0 DAL

ree

The Vancouver Whitecaps sit all alone atop the Supporters' Shield standings after four games, to the surprise of everyone. Tristan Blackmon got the job done in a grind-it-out type of win over Dallas. The 'Caps have shown the ability to win in a variety of ways, and will have the benefit of a fairly weak schedule as well. They defeated Monterrey in CCC and will advance to play Pumas in the next round.

5. COLORADO RAPIDS (+6) | 2-1 W SJ

ree

The Colorado Rapids are without a loss this MLS season, amassing two wins and two draws. Cole Bassett finally stepped up after a slow start, while the backline and Zack Steffen's 12 saves led the way. The Rapids are still figuring their team out, but it's been a successful beginning to the campaign.

6. NEW YORK RED BULLS (+1) | 2-2 D ORL

ree

Eric Choupo-Moting finally introduced himself in a big way against Orlando. The Red Bulls played a solid match, but a couple of defensive breakdowns cost them. Raheem Edwards was not good in his first start. RBNY has to clean up the defensive mistakes down broadway, but the team looks good, even with a bunch of injuries.

7. SEATTLE SOUNDERS (-5) | 1-0 L STL

ree

The Seatle Sounders are currently the toughest team to gage, as the inconsistencies have been rampant. After thrashing LAFC 5-2, the Sounders had just one shot on goal against St. Louis and Albert Rusnak was left quiet. The spanking against Cruz Azul in CCC will free up Seattle's upcoming schedule and force less squad rotation.

8. FC CINCINNATI (-4) | 2-0 L CLT

ree

Like the Sounders, Cincy has been wildly inconsistent as well. For the expectations coming in, FCC has fallen short through the first four games. Good things happen when Evander is on the ball, it has to work through him. Getting Luca Orellano back into the fold will be huge going forward. Cincinnati's lineup is too good for this, a positive run is surely inbound.

9. ST. LOUIS CITY SC (+6) | 1-0 W SEA

ree

St. Louis City has put together the best defensive unit in MLS, according to the first four games. The zero goals allowed number is unfathomable, no other team in the league has given up less than two. Marcel Hartel is creating so well for this team, and once those turn into goal contributions, this team is so dangerous front to back.

10. LAFC (-5) | 1-0 L ATX

ree

LAFC took a really bad loss at home against Austin FC, one that got away from them. The home side ceded the better chances and were just unable to beat Brad Stuver. Denis Bouanga has been extremely unimpressive in 2025. Cengiz Under made his MLS debut on the other wing, but the help resulted in no goals.

11. MINNESOTA UNITED (-2) | 3-3 D SKC

ree

Minnesota United posted a choke of the year candidate, especially to a team like Sporting Kansas City. Tainy Oluwaseyi scored a brace alongside a Hassani Dotson screamer en route to a 3-0 lead and an assumed easy win. The Loons then conceded three goals in 12 minutes to SKC, which is more goals than their opponents scored all season previously. This was a draw that very much feels like a loss.

12. NYCFC (+1) | 2-1 W NE

ree

Alonso Martinez defeated New England with an acrobatic finish after an Aljaz Ivacic parry. NYCFC has won two straight games now, taking advantage of the Yankee Stadium home pitch. Hannes Wolf was great in the victory, but it was Keaton Parks who put up the best performance in the midfield.

13. ATLANTA UNITED (-7) | 2-1 L MIA

ree

Atlanta United has not been as good as advertised. Miguel Almiron has had difficulty getting going, while the midfield is too mistake-prone. Emmanuel Latte Lath is clearly an elite striker, but he needs some help. Alexey Miranchuk is starting to look like a bust, he needs to get involved.

14. PHILADELPHIA UNION (-4) | 3-1 L NSH

ree

Philadelphia Union had one of the best starts league-wide, but the 3-1 shock loss at home against Nashville showed some of the preseason worries. To be fair, the refereeing was questionable and the penalty kick decisions were controversial. With that being said, the Union were not the better team for many portions of the game and allowed Sam Surridge and Co. to run freely in behind all first half with the wind at their backs.

15. ORLANDO CITY SC (-1) | 2-2 D RBNY

ree

Orlando City grabbed a solid 2-2 draw in Harrison, New Jersey. Direct play worked like a charm, as Marco Pasalic and Luis Muriel wreaked havoc down the middle. Orlando still has to figure things out defensively soon, as they have conceded at least two goals in every game so far. Martin Ojeda's attack is looking sharp, though.

16. SAN DIEGO FC (+1) | 1-1 D CLB

ree

San Diego was given a test at Snapdragon Stadium, and they passed. A 1-1 draw with Columbus came about thanks to a red card. SDFC still has much more to prove, but the first four games have been a success. The Western Conference is looking weak right now, so it's truly up for grabs if the newest team can get it going.

17. AUSTIN FC (+2) | 1-0 W LAFC

ree

Austin earned a surprising clean sheet win on the road in Los Angeles. The win was fueled by a Guilherme Biro goal. The defense has been elite for Austin, as they have conceded just two times. All four matches this year have ended 1-0 in either direction. If Brandon Vazquez and Myrto Uzuni can start getting involved, there's hope for ATX.

18. SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES (-2) | 2-1 L COL

ree

San Jose's flying start has been offset by two consecutive losses. Chicho Arango scored a lovely goal, but it was not enough to get the job done at home versus Colorado. The Quakes need to find ways to create chances outside of Cristian Espinoza, especially with Hernan Lopez set to miss half the season.

19. CHICAGO FIRE (+2) | 2-1 W TFC

ree

Chicago Fire has mustered back-to-back wins after a slower start. The opponents have not been incredible, but the Fire are winning the games they need to win in order to be a playoff team. Hugo Cuypers is on an absolute tear, along with Andrew Gutman at left back. Chicago has genuine postseason potential.

20. NASHVILLE SC (+4) | 3-1 W PHI

ree

Nashville SC strung together the most shocking result of the weekend, a 3-1 win at the undefeated Philadelphia Union. Hany Mukhtar still did not play a good game, but he showed some confidence with a late paneka penalty. Sam Surridge and Ahmed Qasem showed off their vertical threat, while Walker Zimmerman played virtually the most solid game a center back can.

21. REAL SALT LAKE (+4) | 2-1 W HOU

ree

Real Salt Lake got back in the win column with a victory over Houston. Diogo Goncalves scored moments in to propel the away side to all three points. Diego Luna grabbed the winner, as RSL has split its four games thus far. All things considered, it's not a bad start, but there's still some definite concerns about this team.

22. LA GALAXY (-2) | 1-1 D POR

ree

LA Galaxy are in some trouble. Christian Ramirez rescued his team from a fourth straight loss to open the season, earning a 1-1 draw in Portland. The Galaxy are playing the young guns and giving different players opportunities, but it has not worked out so far. Gabriel Pec and his crew need to figure something out soon.

23. DC UNITED (-) | 0-0 D MTL

ree

DC United has still not lost a game, but it has hardly won either. The first four opponents contained many of the bottom teams in MLS, and they ended up with three draws. The schedule begins to get a bit more formidable for DC in the upcoming month, so this is where things will get tricky. Christian Benteke needs to keep scoring goals in bulk.

24. HOUSTON DYNAMO (-6) | 2-1 L RSL

ree

Houston Dynamo has been one of the worst teams in the league to kick things off. Three losses and a solid draw with Columbus mark the exposition of the 2025 campaign. A 2-1 home loss against Real Salt Lake is not a good look. On the bright side, Ezquiel Ponce scored, and Jack McGlynn played a great match after a couple of rough ones.

25. FC DALLAS (-3) | 1-0 L VAN

ree

FC Dallas is off to a strange start. Luciano Acosta and Petar Musa have shown flashes, but it has not been consistent for the duo. The 1-0 home loss to Vancouver contained zero shots on goal and nearly nothing going forward. Dallas has to get it going in the attack to win games.

26. PORTLAND TIMBERS (-) | 1-1 D LA

ree

The Portland Timbers have scored three goals in their first four matches. It has not been a great start, but it could be worse. The Timbers had to hold onto a 1-0 lead against the Galaxy, which they did until the dying minutes. Portland was also robbed of a nailed-on penalty, but it still needs to generate a higher volume of chances.

27. CF MONTREAL (+1) | 0-0 D DC

ree

CF Montreal has not won a game yet through its first four. Giacomo Vrioni, the lone DP on the squad, has yet to appear. A team without big-money players and any real spark is not exactly destined for greatness. Jonathan Sirois, George Campbell and Joel Waterman have done what they can, but there is a severe lack of dangerous forward-thinking players.

28. SPORTING KANSAS CITY (+1) | 3-3 D MIN

ree

Sporting Kansas City was in the mud early at home against Minnesota, but the game spun on its head. Daniel Salloi started the rampage off the bench, and Dejan Joveljic finished it off to tie the game at three. The three goals in 12 minutes gave SKC its first point of the season and avoided being the lone team without one.

29. NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION (-2) | 2-1 L NYC

ree

The New England Revolution scored a goal, kind of. Thiago Martins threw a wicked deflection on frame after a Brandon Bye cross to score at Yankee Stadium. Things only went downhill from there, as Matt Polster and Jackson Yueill got shelled in the midfield. Ignatius Ganago was the only one trying things, while Carles Gil and Alhassan Yusuf continue to turn good shifts in. The Revs do not have much else.

30. TORONTO FC (-) | 2-1 L CHI

ree

Toronto has firmly grasped the cellar position for every second of 2025. DeAndre Kerr actually put TFC into a rare lead from Federico Bernardeschi, but to the surprise of no one, it did not last. It's fairly objective to say that Toronto FC is simply not a good soccer team. TFC winning its first match of the season before May would come against the odds.
